This generational saga encompasses depths of emotions with intensity. The author pulled me into Rachel's world with creative genius that compelled me to devour each word. Exquisite!
The novel Rachael Anne Praline was introduced to me as a romance novel. Really it develops as a historical romance with the history revealed in slivers and glimpses intertwining music and race relations to create the interest and the intrigue of the story. In a style moving forward and backward through the 20th century time passes through musical styles, wars and in the romantic up and downs of a naturally gifted singer, three families and the avaricious or loving people they meet together. Through all Rachael Ann the naturally talented girl and woman is loved, admired, protected, and used for financial gain binds everything together to suit her own unique view of life, love and family ties.
I read because I like to get lost in a story. I like to be swallowed up by the images, the characters and ideas--pretend I'm someone else somewhere else. And sometimes I read because I like to be challenged in my way of thinking and learn new things (both about myself and the world around me). I picked this one up for the first reason. I wanted to lose myself in a good read. I wasn't disappointed. But I was surprised to find that it was also the kind of story that made me think a little and taught me some history. Great story. Good book. Glad I found it!

I loved reading Rachel Anne Praline. I loved how there are two story lines from different time periods and how they are woven together. I appreciate a book that is not 100% predictable and this book surprised me more then once. A great read that I highly recommend.
I loved this book! Tessa did a fabulous job of making me feel that I was there by Rachel's side throughout the story. I loved the references to history.
